Texas A&M University

Since 1995, Texas A&M University researchers have been working in the recovery of several endangered species in the Florida Keys, namely Florida Key deer (Odocoileus virginianus clavium), Lower Keys marsh rabbit (Sylvilagus palustris hefneri), silver rice rat (Oryzomys palustris natator), and Key Largo woodrat (Neotoma floridana smalli). These research efforts are in collaboration with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Keys Environmental Trust Fund, and Monroe County. The purpose of this website is to provide information for collaborators and other interested parties to be used in the recovery of these species.
